Unified Communications 365

The Unified Communications for GO Office 365 (UC 365) combines instant messaging (Teams Chat) with more traditional telephony services to create a truly mobile workforce.

The traditional desk phone is now combined with the instant messaging (Teams Chat) capabilities of Microsoft Teams to provide device-based communication for business. A device can be any compute platform that can run the Microsoft Teams app, or a Microsoft Teams aware meeting room endpoint, or even a Microsoft Teams compatible (standalone) phone handset for reception or other open areas where a phone is required.

The bridge between the Microsoft Teams system and the public switched telephone network (PSTN) is Telstra Calling™ for Office 365 (TCO365). A department or agency must be ported to UC 365 before they can use any of the four unified communication optional services offered through GO Office 365.

Calls between users and endpoints in an organisation are handled internally within Microsoft Teams which means they never go to the PSTN. This applies to calls between users and endpoints in your organisation located in different geographical areas, removing long-distance costs on these internal calls. For calls outside your organisation and beyond the reach of Microsoft Teams itself, TCO365 is used to connect to the PSTN.

This service option provides as an inclusion: End-user and endpoint on/off-boarding; Number range allocation per department and agency; Number range management ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies; Call plan allocation and management; TPAMS contract obligations to the Department to Agency; Telephony moves, adds, and changes along with other requests are processed quickly and in accordance with standards mandated by regulatory bodies.

Monthly operational reporting will be augmented to include: Ticket volume per agency against SLTs; Voice use activity; Number capacity management for voice.

All costs associated licensing and service provision will be invoiced via the standard quarterly service subscription process. All costs associated with PSTN calls will be invoiced directly by Telstra to the respective department or agency.
